When thinking about your finances, it is common to have many questions about where to focus your efforts and attention. I have compiled a list of common questions I hear from clients I have worked with to try and give you a head start in your financial journey.
What makes you qualified to educate people on their finances?
Financial education and coaching does not require licenses or certifications. This is different than Financial Advisors or Financial Planners which do require licenses and have a fiduciary responsibility to their clients. With that being said, I received both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in business so I am very comfortable with accounting and financial concepts. The beauty of personal finance however is that you do not need a degree or formal education to understand how to make informed financial decisions, just the same as you don’t need to be a physicist to understand that when you let go of an object gravity will make it drop.
Can I really get control over my finances when I’m so far behind?
Yes! I believe a large part of the population has an unrealistic belief that money is complicated and difficult. Once you understand some key financial principles, along with some basic human psychology, you can immediately start taking action on setting your financial goals and processes. Depending on where you are starting your financial journey, you may have a harder time than someone else, but it is absolutely possible to get to the place you want to be.
What can I expect from this program?
I first like to start with what this program is NOT. This program is not a get rich quick scheme that promises participants wealth and fortune. While this is certainly possible depending on the person’s goals and strategies, it is by no means a guarantee. What this program IS is a way to empower people to make informed financial decisions and set goals that meet their desires in life based on a strong financial plan. Like most efforts in life, you will get as much out of the education as you put in.
What separates you from other financial experts?
First, I will never claim to be a financial expert. I have learned financial principles through life experiences and a lot of personal education. There are a lot of smart people in the world of personal finance, people I highly respect and appreciate. When I started this program, I saw a huge need for further expansion on the underlying principles of personal finance. There are plenty of programs out there that have strict frameworks with specific rules for gaining control over your finances. If someone needs that level of structure, by all means feel free to use it. The best financial plan is the one that works for you. For me, I need to understand the “how” and “why” behind things, and I didn’t find any programs that delivered what I believe is most important. In working with people, I came to realize a lot of them wanted the knowledge to make informed decisions instead of following a list of rules that may or may not work in their situation. This led me to create education offerings that teaches the principles that can be applied to any scenario.
